Flamecaster Sweet Deal Giveaway!

Pirates, dragons, and wizards behaving badly--all inhabit the world of the Shattered Realms. The first novel in the new series, Flamecaster,  comes your way April 5, 2016 from HarperTeen.

The action takes place about twenty-five years after the Seven Realms quartet. The series could be called a new generation of magic, since many of the characters are the children of characters you met in the original series.
Adrian sul'Han, known as Ash, is a healer with a powerful gift of magic—and a thirst for revenge. The son of the queen of the Fells, Ash is forced into hiding after a series of murders throws the queendom into chaos.
Abandoned at birth, Jenna Bandelow was told that the mysterious magemark on the back of her neck would one day make her a target. But when she learns that the King of Arden's blackbird guard is hunting her, she assumes it has to do with her role as a saboteur in the Delphian underground. The truth is even more terrifying.

Set in the familiar world of the Seven Realms, this is a thrilling story of dark magic, chilling threats, and two unforgettable characters walking a knife-sharp line between life and death.
To celebrate the new series, I'm giving away a prize package including an ARC of Flamecaster plus rare UK editions of the first books in my two previous series,   The Warrior Heir and Demon King. I'm throwing in a Flamecaster light pen (all your friends will be jealous!) bookmarks, and a Flamecaster keychain/purse charm.
Don't miss out! See below for how to enter and win.  Contest runs from February 15 to the ides of March (March 15)
Sorry -- US and Canada only!!

I love reading fantasy fiction because it takes me away from the world I live in. It's nice to read about a entirely new place where anything is possible!

I love reading fantasy books because if it's properly done, they're intricate and amazing. I love magic and different forms of it. I love different races, like elves, warlocks, fae, and vampires. I love visiting new worlds and exploring them. Fantasy books are the best kind of books to be absorbed into. :D

The reason why I love the fantasy fiction genre is because of the endless possibilities you can do with it. You can have any type of races, magic, a different world... It's infinite. Your imagination can be sucked into the very world the author has created specially for their readers. You become part of a new world and that is the beauty of it.

Fantasy takes me away from one world and into another. While reading a fantasy fiction novel I become somebody else, somebody I dream about being. Sometimes it's a elven mage traveling across the lands to find lost knowledge. Other times it's a back ally thief that gets caught up in a plot against the kingdom. With a fantasy novel the restrictions of everyday life are lifted and you are no longer you, but a character in a new world full of possibilities.

I think fantasy gives writers the option of creating a world that is often times more real than the one we inhabit. It can mirror real lives, giving readers the chance to experience something from a completely different viewpoint. In this way, it helps readers develop an open mind and clearer standing in their own world. And, of course, it's really really fun to read! Let's not forget that.

Fantasy is my favourite genre to read. I love fantasy and/or sci fi books because they take me away into a magical world. It's such a great and fun escape away from reality. I especially like YA fantasy.

Fantasy fiction opens my eyes to brand new worlds with political, environmental, geographical, and societal (among many other) differences. I have always enjoyed reading novels with sword-fights, dragons, and magic because the latter technically do not exist in our world (yes, we have Kimono Dragons and some earthly things that appear magical), however, sword-fighting was common in Medieval times. Fantasy is a marriage of history and new content, timeless pieces that inspire and provide new opportunities to learn and explore. As a child I rarely ventured outside because I would much rather read about (as Belle from "Beauty and the Beast" so nicely puts it) "far off places, daring sword fights, magic spells, prince(s) in disguise". These novels have inspired me, provided me with morals, and given me memorial emotional experiences while activating my imagination, which has aided in my growth as an adult and actress.

I don't always read fantasy books, but when I do, they're by Cinda Chima. Your books are by far my favourite, and Imve been craving another series for a little over a year now. I think I've read the Seven Realms around 4 times so far.

I love fantasy because I like to read about magic, dragons and other creatures that only come alive in the worlds of the authors, and the readers.

I think the reason that I love fiction because it offers me escape. When i pick up a book it is almost always fiction. It is what got me to fall in love with reading, and it has been what has gotten me through some hard times in my life. I think what draws me to it is that with fiction, you can not go wrong, because it is a world someone created and I am given the opportunity to visit it. Fiction also gives me a chance to experience something, or learn something I never would have learned otherwise. Also with fiction as a genre, I never grow tired of rereading them. I would have to say the heir chronicles and the seven realms series, are never far from my imagination.

So can't wait to read this. I love the world and characters you created in this series. They really stay with you.

I love to read fantasy because it allows you to explore the fantastic worlds that one can create with their minds. Not to mention it allows you to do a real separation from reality and explore something that you may never get to do. It is a true separation of the worlds. I love it.

Fantasy is my favorite genre because anything can happen! I am so excited to have another great book to add to this beloved series!

Fantasy Fiction is one of my favorite genres due to its ability to transport the reader to such fantastical and wondrous worlds of the author's imagination. From the comforts of my home, I can travel and explore worlds of infinite possibilities and stories. As such, fantasy novels provide a portal of adventure like none other. As much as I love 1984 and its message to the world, sometimes I need an escape to a world unlike our own, and fantasy fiction is the perfect solution for this need. As a result, this is why I not only like, but love fantasy fiction.

Nan said...

When I was a kid, I wished for magical powers or even a magic wand so I could fix the wrongs in the world and take out the bullies at my school. Now I enjoy reading about fantastical places where anything can happen and often does.

I love reading fantasy because I get to escape into a world filled with magnificent things. Worlds filled with magic, heroic fighting, wizards, dragons, elves, dwarfs, and so much more. I become not a reader of the story, but a character within the book. I get lost within the black ink printed on white paper and fight along the hero, save the world, wield magic, ride a dragon. And isn't that the greatest experience? To me, it is. Though I do love other genres, high fantasy is my first love.

Reading fantasy fiction is a way for the impossible to become possible and that is magic in and of itself.

I enjoy reading fantasy fiction because I love the GRANDNESS of the story - you're learning about a whole new world with all new people and things and it just feels so big and important because it IS to them, it's their world, their quest, their journey...I love reading fantasy fiction because I love getting swept up with the characters on their adventures, that feeling that you're somehow a part of the story, and it feels dangerous and exciting, but also safe and calming at the exact same time. And then sometimes it just amazes me that that plot twist, or that description, or that creature, etc., came from another human being that just had the imagination to create it and share it so people like me can enjoy it (and enjoy it, I do). So that is why I love reading fantasy fiction and why I cannot WAIT to dive back into the Seven Realms.

More than any other series I have read, I love the Seven Realms! I've read this series over and over and it has even inspired my own writing. I love fantasy because it allows young readers to use their imagination and explore the endless possibilities of their own creativity. I think fantasy challenges young readers to look past the real and tangible universe as they know it and have a little wonder in regards to things "unknown" and the magic that surrounds them. Personally, reading fantasy has opened my mind to ideas that are challenging and mysterious and I hope to do so in my own writing. The Seven Realms has definitely one of the best plot construction and character developments I have ever read! :) #ChimaForPresident ;)

I love reading fantasy fiction; they are my favorite kind of books to read. It's amazing how something that could never happen in real life seems to real in your mind. It gives you a whole new experience--a life that you never before would have lived. This is quote by George R.R. Martin that I love: “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.” Fantasy fiction makes your mind explode into a realm you never would have reached if it weren't for the author who created it. Thank you.

I love fantasy because it's an opportunity to get out of my mundane life for a while and have an adventure! Can't wait to read the followup to one of my absolute favorite series!

I love this genre because these stories are a gateway into other people's minds, into a world made by the author's imagination with characters going through the stories; because there is no limit to what can happen or how anything happens, everything is left to the discretion of the author and how they portray this unique world of theirs. It gives us as readers a chance to live through a life other than our own and let our imaginations fly with our own interpretation of the words written in every page, how characters and scenery look in our imaginations is unique to every reader and the authors' themselves for example.

Jenn said...

I love fantasy books because they transfer you to a different world. I find them highly entertaining and wishing I was there.

I love reading fantasy fiction especially with awesome writers because I get to live in other worlds. A few years ago I first picked up The Demon King over a weekend I had pneumonia. When I wasn't reading I was miserable, when I was reading I barely noticed. I ended up reading the whole series in 2 days for my first time through it. I have read the series over several times and am transported every time. Thank you!

I love reading fantasy fiction simply because they just seem so much more creative and interesting than the real world. They're so different from the real world, yet so familiar at the same time. It's new a different, yet I can understand it. Plus, in fantasy there be dragons, and that's just exciting. ;)

Natalia D here!

I LOVE reading fantasy because I fell in love with reading thanks to a fantasy book (The Hobbit). That's when I discovered that magic of reading, and since then, I have never been separate from a book (not even a single day)!

I own to fantasy my love of reading, my love for books, for libraries, bookstores, and most importantly, for authors! who give me the stories and characters I fall in love with! But also, I own to fantasy, and everything it made me discover with it, who I will soon become, a librarian (Im graduating in June!! =D) as well as my life and future, which I'll spend in libraries, surrounded by ideas, stories and characters that make our lives worth living!

I love reading fantasy books. Cinda Chima is one of my favorite authors along with Rick Riordan, Cassandra Clare, Sarah J Maas. My books shelves are overflowing with all the books I read. I am now starting to rent from the online library to accomodate my reading addiction.

I love fantasy books because they are what started my love of reading in elementary school and I still love fantasy books as a junior in high school. Also the characters in fantasy stories always kick butt, physically or mentally. Fantasy books are awesome especially because of the fight scenes.

Fantasy is the best because you can literally imagine a completely knew world with new life styles and social norms and whatever else! It's fantastic!

I've always had an interest in fantasy (loved watching Buffy and Xena as a kid) and I think it is because there are so many more possibilities in fantasy. Whereas a lot of stories set in the real world have to rely on a good story and characterization to keep the readers' attention, in fantasy novels there is also a lot of world building and learning about the magic system and I love reading about these imaginary worlds and societies dreamed up in the authors' heads.

Unknown said...

Fantasy is my favorite genre because of the way you can delve into a completely different world and truly immerse yourself in it. You are no longer yourself but a character in the story where you have amazing abilities you can never have in real life.

Reading fantasy has always been an escape from family drama and school work, it's takes you to a place where magical things happen and the possibilities are not predictable .I like fantasy the most because it adds a new element that mysteries and nonfiction don't have not that their bad or anything but I have always liked the stories with magic and dragons and knight than the stories with just girl crushes and backstabs and that is why I like to read fantasy .

Unknown said...

Fantasy books are a quick and easy escape. I love them, and the majority of my reading list is fantasy. The real world gives me enough reality and I like to have my "real" world sucked away when I fall into a book. I'm picky about my favorites though and usually stay away from already established magical structures (i.e. angels, demons, fairies, vampires, etc.) unless the story is unique in some way...

Unknown said...

Reading about a fantasy world is my escape from the world. I get to travel alongside heroic and sometimes not heroic characters throughout their adventures. It also sparks my creativity for my own life by adding color to what could be a dull portrait.

I just recently started reading Fantasy, specifically YA. I really enjoy it because it's a complete escape from our world. I'm 33 years old, but I've found that I really like fantasy series, esp ones that are well-done, with memorable characters and settings. I look forward to each book, with new mysteries and magical things happening.

Unknown said...

I love reading fantasy because it transports the reader and gives them the honor of an inside look of the writer's thoughts and fantasies. I also love fantasy because when I read a book its like I have been eloped in a bubble that is safe from any everyday pressures and expectations. Fantasy books are one of the few book genres that make me feel that way. I could go on about every other reason I read fantasy books but, the one above is the rawest and closest to my person.

Unknown said...

I love Fantasy books because it just transport you to a new and magical world in which that can never exist in our world today (or maybe if you believe in magic). Fantasy is my favorite genres I will ever read because I always will have this feeling that I want to be this character with their personality or skills and such. Even though it is a fantasized world, in real life I tried to be somewhat similar to the character and have my imagination run wild. I'm never too old for such things.

The worlds that fantasy books bring are the absolute best! I think I love fantasy so much because it can be absolutely and entirely NOT of this world, yet still so complex and detailed that I can get lost in the story and believe it COULD be. Fantasy is my escape from the boredom and stress of reality. It allows for magic and innumerable ideas, plots, worlds, characters, problems. The books are captivating, and I love yours, they are amazing!!

I've always loved fantasy because it's immersive while still being completely alien to our world. Fantasy is a world of endless possibilities. Hell, I remember a quote that said that science could become so advanced it seems like magic and I feel like that speaks to the endless realm of possibility that is fantasy. I love fantasy for the escapism, for the world building and for the imagination. Fantasy can be as simple or as complex as you want it to be and in that lies the magic.

Theres always new politics and new problems that are like those in our world but also not, and the way they're solved is always fantastical in a way that cant be solved in the real world and I love it!

I love reading for the escapism but fantasy is my favorite because it takes you farther away from the everyday than any other genre. As an introvert it gives me an opportunity to go on an adventure that I would not dream of doing in real life.

I dearly love fantasy because it transports me and I become completely immersed in another world. I love well drawn characters and detailed world building that add color and dimension to the story. But in the end, it's all about the people for me and if they capture my heart. Cinda, you write flawed, loveable, "can't wait to root for" underdogs that are scrappy and loyal. I love every minute I spend with them. You make me laugh, cry, and rage when I read your stories and it is worth every minute. You have a gift!

Emily said...

I love fantasy books because there's nothing more wonderful than being sucked into a different realm that lives by different rules and dangers!

It's difficult to iterate why I love fantasy, but I'll try. First of all, it makes me feel like I did when I believed in Santa. That is to say, when I believed in Santa that meant that anything, no matter how rare, expensive, large, small, or intangible, could be presented to me on Christmas Day. Similarly, in fantasy, endless treasures, and possibilities await, even opportunities to be transformed as a reader. Also, reading fantasy reminds me of this line from Seraphina by Rachel Hartman (also a fantasy novel): "The world inside myself is vaster and richer than this paltry plane, peopled by mere galaxies and gods." When I read fantasy, I discover new worlds inside myself, worlds that are so much richer than everyday experiences, or so rich that they heighten everyday experiences. Fantasy reminds me that heroes exist and are made one choice at a time, the relationships you form in life are so vital, and that evil exists and can be defeated--“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”

Raisa Santos said...

Fantasy fiction is pretty immersive, when written well, of course. I love how I can get lost in fictional books for hours at a time, and fantasy especially has the air of charm and mystery that I long for in the real world. And I move from book to book pretty quickly, so I end up reading about a lot of fantasy worlds - it's amazing what authors craft through words alone!

Unknown said...
